  • South Carolina Music Guide Reviews King City Sessions

South Carolina Music Guide recently published a review of King City Sessions!

I felt that I was witnessing a great new Charleston scene taking shape, one that looked to the future of Americana and folk rock, but also called into shape the widely channeled, but rarely resurrected ghost of classic rock.

“…it’s appealing to see such a large group of musicians come together in common cause in such a positive way. The whole camaraderie of the King City collective will leave most listeners wondering how they manage to stay so focused, with the relative youth of the whole group, but they apply both professionalism and an evident respect for each other towards a common goal with amazing results.

  • Details for King City Sessions this Saturday

We are officially three days until King City Sessions! Are you excited!? We definitely are!

In what has been an extremely exciting, busy and crazy week we’ve been putting the finishing touches on our sets, gathering decor for the studio, and chilling the beer.  This will be a unique and memorable event for all involved!

That being said, we wanted to give all of the attendees a little more information on how it will all go down on Saturday.

    1. This will be a live recording experience

It is important to note that each band’s set will be recorded (audio and video) so bring your noise, bring your funk, and bring your personality.

That being said, all we ask is that you please be respectful to the artists performing and try to keep getting up, switching chairs, entering/exiting the studio live room to a minimum during each band’s set.

There will be 10 - 15 minute breaks between each band’s set which will allow you to get up, use the bathrooms, get another beer, etc.

    2.  Keeping it local with Westbrook IPA

Speaking of beer, the Westbrook IPA was the winner in our survey.  So we will have a keg of Westbrook IPA as well as a cooler with an assortment of other domestics (for those of you who are 21+).

    3. Additional Details

Doors open at 7 PM with the show getting started around 8 PM.  So get there early, grab a beverage and mingle a bit.  We will announce when everyone will need to enter the live room for the show to begin.

    What: King City Sessions
When: Saturday, April 20.  Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM.
Where: Ocean Industries Studios  (1750 Signal Point Rd Charleston, SC)
Who:  Loners Society, Wrenwood, Tyler Boone

Thank you in advance for planning to attend.  If you have any other questions feel free to shoot me an email at matt@kingcityrecords.com.

    See you all Saturday!

For the past month, we have been hinting at a big announcement, provoking anticipation, fervor, and excitement.  You can stop holding your breath, because we’re here to shed some light on our cryptic social media posts:

We are excited to announce our very 1st King City Sessions on Saturday, April 20, at Ocean Industries Recording Studios!

King City Sessions is a rare, intimate experience where you, the audience, will have the opportunity to see and hear: Tyler Boone, Loners Society, and Wrenwood not only perform, but also talk about the stories and events that inspired the songs as well as hang out with all of the artists.

The entire event will also be filmed (audio and video) for release later this year.

This King City Sessions is an invite-only event, closed to the public; however, there are still spots available for King City Records Crown Club members.  Joining the Crown Club is free.  You will not only receive access to the first Sessions, but a lot of other cool King City gear, unreleased recordings, and event access as well.

  • Wrenwood at The Royal American (Charleston, SC) / New Loners Society Bootleg

    Wrenwood at The Royal American

Just wanted to remind everyone that Wrenwood will be playing The Royal American in Charleston, South Carolina tonight night, March 14!  They are sharing the bill with The Rough & Tumble from Nashville, Tennessee and Julie Slonecki out of Charleston.

The recording process has always been a slow and arduous process; however, progress is still being made on the first batch of Wrenwood recordings.  It is just taking a little longer than anticipated.

    Patience!

If you simply can’t wait until then, they will be playing a full band show at The Royal American (Charleston, SC) tomorrow night (January 10).  They will be joining The Head, a band out of Atlanta, GA as well as The Dunderchiefs.

    Loners Society

Things went a little quiet in the Loners Society camp after the showcase, but that didn’t mean that they weren’t hard at work!  Matt is currently in the middle of writing their new record which we are all hoping to release later in 2013.

In some other random, unexpected news, Loners Society will be featured on the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) webshow, The JBL & Cole Show.  The JBL & Cole Show is a regular show hosted on wwe.com with WWE color-commentators John Bradshaw Layfield and Michael Cole.  Loners Society recently filmed a short, promotional spot which will be airing on the show this Friday, January 11!  We’ll let you know as soon as the newest JBL & Cole Show episode is posted!

JUST ANNOUNCED: Loners Society will be opening for Cowboy Mouth at The Windjammer (Isle of Palms, SC), on Friday, January 18!

The legendary New Orleans band, Cowboy Mouth, returns to Charleston for two nights of raucous rock n roll, and Loners Society will be tagging along for the Friday night show (January 18)!  The band will not be doing many shows while working on their new record, so this will be a great opportunity to see them at a great venue before they go back into seclusion.

    Odds and Ends

Like we said at the start, things have gotten pretty busy around here, which means that we definitely needed some extra hands on deck!  We want to take this moment to welcome Pete Clark, Cameron Sepulveda, and Arthur Young IV to the King City family!  We’re all hard at work to make sure you have no shortage of great music and events in 2013!

Hope to see you out at some of the shows soon and if you happen to see any of us out, don’t be shy to come say “hello!”.

    Until next time,
    The King City Crue
